Pediatrician Training
Program Description
The Comprehensive Children Cancer Control Program is co-initiated by Beijing New Sunshine Charity Foundation and Shenzhen Henghui Children’s Charity Foundation. The program uses childhood leukemia as a pilot disease to explore the long-term mechanism of comprehensive control of childhood cancer. The program has been piloted in Heyuan, Guangdong Province since 2017. In February 2019, the Comprehensive Children Cancer Control Program was officially launched in Qinghai Province.
“Medical Resources Improvement Plan” supports the advanced training of local hematologists in Qinghai Province, improve the capabilities of pediatric leukemia diagnosis and treatment locally, in order to enable more patients to be treated locally, and reduce non-medical costs for patients. To train medical doctors in community leavel so that children with leukemia can be diagnosed and referred in a timely manner to avoid any possible delays in treatment. Support the training of pediatric medical students, alleviate the long-term shortage of children’s medical and healthcare resources in the western region, and promote the healthy development of children’s medical and health care.
Program Achievements
In Heyuan city, Guangdong province, we support the academic leaders of local hospitals to participate in the training of pediatric leukemia treatment, and help Heyuan city build up medical capacity of pediatric leukemia from scratch.

In 2021, the Medical Resource Improvement Plan under the Comprehensive Children Cancer Control Program offered scholarships to 38 pediatric undergraduates, postgraduates and residents in Qinghai Province who receive standardized training. The program also provided training support to pediatric medical teachers and pediatric medical staff. Four pediatric nurses were sponsored to receive pediatric oncology diagnosis and treatment related training. In addition, the program also sponsored 3 medical students from the Tibetan Medical College of Qinghai University with an annual tuition fee of 6,566 yuan and a monthly living allowance of 600 yuan until graduation. In the future, more medical students in financial difficulties will be sponsored complete their studies.
